![]() ![]() Obsidian’s based on Electron, and as a result it’s highly flexible and has an extensive cross-platform community building new ways of working with your notes. Obsidian and NotePlan provide a complementary set of tools. 3 Why use NotePlan and Obsidian together? Both Obsidian and NotePlan recognize and navigate the same ]-style note links. To state this clearly: you can use Obsidian and NotePlan to work with the exact same files-no import-export-import roundabout nor sync processes needed. And, as of the current beta of NotePlan 3, it works on markdown files, too.Ī screenshot of NotePlan with this article in view. NotePlan is a kind of super-powerful “ bullet journal.” It allows you to take extensive, linked notes about your life and work, and it provides intuitive ways of searching and filtering those notes for review and actionability while allowing you to link them with events, reminders, and time blocking. 2 It is a clean and effective way of linking notes with Calendar and Reminders apps. Obsidian provides a kind of Integrated Development Environment ( IDE) for thinking. 1 It’s a sleek, highly community-driven tool-in fact, an alpha of Obsidian’s API was just launched. Obsidian is a linked thought app that operates on markdown files. Most of this is intuitive, but it may be useful to have it all in one place. In this post, I provide an overly-detailed overview of setting up and using Obsidian and NotePlan together. Beware! Much can change, and you should expect glitches. Note: both Obsidian and NotePlan 3 are beta apps. If you’d implemented this guide before Oct. 30, 2020, you’ll want to open a “new” Obsidian vault at this location (and reset any other scripts/apps that were interacting with NotePlan notes synced via CloudKit.) ⚠️ The new location is ~/Library/Containers/co.noteplan.NotePlan3/Data/Library/Application Support/co.noteplan.NotePlan3/. And it is attractive in the literal sense of that word - I am drawn to using it and it has helped me think through various topics and projects.⚠️ Oct 30, 2020 - CloudKit sync users: The latest edition of the NotePlan 3 beta moves the directory of your NotePlan notes to comply with Apple’s sandboxing policies. The bottom line is I've found Agenda very user friendly. And it doesn't have an iOS companion app yet, though the developers say they are working on one and should have it sometime this year. It doesn't sport the tools for quickly clipping information from the web or other sources outside itself. You probably wouldn't use Agenda to capture all those random bits of information that cross your path each day. So it is great for logging activities or plotting out unfolding steps. You can assign dates to your notes - past, present or future. You organize your notes in categories and projects (which fall under categories). And I have another project for keeping track of my personnel related notes. For example, I have one project that is for planning our upcoming vacation. It is intended for the focused use of keeping notes, making plans and tracking tasks on a project basis, though a "project" can stand in for any related topics. The developers have built a payment system that will reward them for continual improvement, so I am sure the app will only get better and more powerful.Īgenda lives somewhere on the spectrum between a diary app like DayOne and a note-taking app like Bear. You can search for them more easily, and they appear in a special group in the sidebar, so you can find them in a flash. Notes that are On the Agenda are given special status. But you can also put them "On the Agenda". You can attach dates to individual notes, and even link them to events in your calendar. Use older notes as breadcrumbs to remind yourself why you took the actions you did. Take notes for what is currently on your agenda, while you prepare another for an upcoming meeting. While other apps focus specifically on the past, present, or future, Agenda is the only note taking app that tracks them all at once, giving you the complete picture. From business professionals and technical users, to students and artists, Agenda is for anyone wanting well organized and easily navigable notes that help drive your projects forward.Īgenda’s unique approach of organizing notes into a timeline helps to drive your projects forward. Agenda is a date-focused note taking app for both planning and documenting your projects. Agenda brings an elegant and new take on notes. ![]()
